Selena and Armando – Film (and some random thoughts)

I tend to have a short attention span. My dad can’t sit still either. He’s always moving and never stops thinking. He told me once that he has hundreds of new ideas about different things every day. He has a brilliant mind (it’s been tested) and he simply can’t stop thinking. I’m nowhere near as intelligent as my dad. (He would argue this but, he’s also my dad and that’s part of a dad’s job!) But, I do constantly try new things and am always thinking of new ways of doing things. I’m sure that is why I’ve started playing around with HD videos made from snippets I’ve grabbed while I’m photographing a wedding day. My Nikon D3s has a button that turns on and off HD video as fast as I can press the shutter. This means that with a flip of a switch, I can go from taking a still picture to recording movement AND back to taking stills again, instantly. It’s a really amazing feature and it appeals to the side of me that likes to expand and learn new things. I’m always trying to teach myself how to be a better photographer and how to improve my client’s overall experience. Plus, a trait left over from my bike racing days, a little challenge always gets me fired up!

And to cure my insatiable thirst for beautiful imagery, I continue to have my Mamiya film camera with me everywhere I go. The images below are a few quiet portraits I took during Selena and Armando’s totally awesome wedding. Please be sure to check out (and see the dramatic difference between the types of images below and the digital images I normally show) their complete wedding day: HERE. And don’t miss my first attempt at a little wedding day video preview made during their wedding: HERE (or see below).
