Bluephoto Wedding Photography San Luis Obispo

Hi, I'm Jonathan Roberts and I started Bluephoto 7 years ago. I've shot over 250 weddings and have loved every minute of it *(almost every minute....the naked reception guy freaked me out...and there was the crazy dog that bit Michael, the groom...)!

And a little about me:

I am living my dream. Not too many people can say that. I have the cutest wife ever. Michelle never stops smiling and she is simply a joy to wake up to each day. I am incredibly thankful for our happy little boy who spends way more time giggling than crying, a wife who is the love of my life and a job I look forward to each day. Marriage for me has been a dream come true and I am thrilled to be a part of each couple's wedding day as they make the commitment to be together for the rest of their lives.

And to be a little less sappy - I also love wine, cooking, cyclingnews.com, figuring out near impossible lighting setups, single speed mountain bikes, chips and salsa, brie with crackers and caramelized onions, the perfect margarita with just a touch of salt, and knowing when I click the shutter that I captured a perfect moment.

Shauna and Chris – Wedding

Last weekend I made my way down to El Capitan Canyon which is north of Santa Barbara by 20 or so miles. El Capitan Canyon is right off Hwy 1 and heads northeast from the Pacific to the Santa Ynez mountain range. The Canyon is a rustic, slightly off the beaten track place for a wedding and just perfect for Shauna and Chris who were looking for a unique and special way to celebrate their wedding day.

Sarah from Rhone Weddings introduced Shauna, Chris and I earlier this year. Anytime Sarah is a part of something, the event goes off flawlessly and the details are handled with pin-point accuracy and an artistic flair. El Capitan Canyon has a single road that runs from the beach, straight up through the park. At the end of the road is a ridge where Shauna and Chris were married. Farther up the hillside sits the Santa Ynez mountain range and down below, off in the distance the calm Pacific ocean can be seen. As Shauna and Chris said their vows, a soft breeze began to stir and the rustling of leaves could be heard in the distance. Tears welled up in many guest’s eyes as Chris reached over and kissed her. There was no peck on the lips, “to seal the deal.” This was a serious kiss! He pulled her in tight, pressed his lips against hers and the celebration began! These two are a wonderful couple. They compliment each other very well and fit together like two pieces of a puzzle.

As the sun began to make it’s way towards the horizon, the three of us headed over to the beach to catch the last few rays of light. After taking pictures, I walked away and left them to enjoy each other and from afar I could see that they were ever present as they enjoyed every moment of their wedding day.
