In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.” – Shing Xiong

Michelle, Payton and I are heading down to Belize in a couple of weeks for a little off-wedding-season vacation. I am totally looking forward to a break before my first 2010 wedding at the end of January. With the official end of my 2009 photography year, I’ve been thinking a lot about how incredible this...

Santa Barbara Wedding Photography

The Central Coast, from Santa Barbara to Santa Ynez, Solvang and on up through Paso Robles is full of many wonderful wedding venues. Santa Ynez wedding venues offer numerous choices for brides including wineries, old barns and gorgeous old Victorians. Solvang is one of my favorite places to shoot weddings because of the adjacent pastures and horse ranches. Paso Robles also has similar wedding ranch style wedding locations which offer gorgeous oaks and fields filled with tall soft grass. The sun streaking past a 200 year old oak is an amazing sight! Santa Barbara wedding photographers as well as all Central Coast wedding photographers are blessed to work and live in such an inspiring place!

Mindy and Adam

Mindy and Adam had a wonderful San Luis Obispo wedding at the Botanical Garden. I have never shot a wedding at the Gardens before and was thrilled to do so last weekend. The Gardens has wonderful light during the afternoon and sits nestled in next to a golden hillside (my favorite!). We started off in Cayucos where Mindy got dressed and ready to go. We then headed out, mid day, to the San Luis Obispo Botanical Gardens for the ceremony and reception. The reception included tons of dancing spurred on by the lovely Melissa from Kramer Entertainment. Melissa played an awesome collection of music that had the entire room dancing for 2 straight hours! I can’t say enough about Melissa and I highly suggest you give her a call. After the toasts and first dance, we sprinted up a hill to catch the last few rays of golden light as the fog rolled in through the valley. Mindy and Adam’s wedding was a great success and I can’t wait to hear what they are up to in the future.

Mindy - We just held our wedding in San Luis Obispo and Jonathan @ Bluephoto was our photographer. From our initial contact to our engagement shoot to our wedding itself and beyond, he was professional, fun, easy to work with and did a rockstar job capturing all the moments we hoped for!

Our photography package included an engagement shoot. Since we live out of town, we didn’t have the opportunity to come down for the shoot early on, but Jonathan was great and had a flexible schedule so we were able to get in our photo shoot the week of the wedding. It turned out to be a great warm-up for our wedding week and we are super glad that we now have a bunch of awesome photos of us in non-wedding clothes to hang on the wall.

Plus, the engagement shoot was an awesome way to get to know him and see some nooks and crannies of SLO that we hadn’t checked out yet. He even had great recommendations for restaurants and other stuff to check out while we were in town!

His easy-going nature instantly put us at ease in front of the camera and when we got the proofs back online (less than a week after the wedding!) I was blown away by how fantastic the photos were. He got great action shots of the dancefloor, beautiful pictures of the ceremony, all the formal relative group shots we have on our list and a ton of fun photos of our guests and all of the highlights of the reception – from our Pinata to our dance circles!

Beautiful work, great pricing and wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Jonathan to all the central coast brides around!

Jasmine and Morgan

Jasmine and Morgan will be married this year up in Cambria. They are having a beach ceremony and then heading over to Cambria Pines Lodge for their reception. Jasmine booked me for their wedding a while ago and we didn’t have a chance to meet until this weekend for their engagement shoot. It was great to finally meet in person because we have been friends on Facebook for a while. Because of our interaction online, I felt like I was hanging out with friends I’ve known for a long time. Very cool.

Morgan and Jasmine have been together since High School. They are incredibly comfortable with each other and share a bond that comes from living a portion of your life together and going through many of the same experiences. I love photographing best friends. These two are truly wonderful people and I really enjoyed our evening wandering around San Luis Obispo looking for gorgeous light.
