I first met Adrienne and Richard last fall when we took their engagement pictures. I remember noticing how gentle he was with her. I adore my wife. I hold her in high regard, trust her explicitly, cherish our times together and enjoy being a part of her life. And sometimes I notice these qualities in others. During our shoot, I heard the way he speaks to her. The way he looks at her and listens to her. He holds her carefully and with respect – the respect of a gentleman. And last weekend, I spent the day with them. And time and again, I noticed Richards practiced reflexes in the way he treats not only Adrienne but, his mom, grandmother and countless friends and family members. He is kind, converses without being too distracted (something that has become more and more rare as our phones constantly vibrate and chirp away in our pockets) and shows open respect to the people he loves. Adrienne is a dream. She is beautiful, kind, full of smiles and silliness. She is a brilliant catch. And Richard understands this. A gentleman doesn’t discount the fortunes he’s gifted. Nor does he take for granted the responsibilities that come with these gifts.
Watching Adrienne and Richard together makes me want to sit across a small table with Michelle and talk until there is nothing left to say. And then walk with her hand in mine for as long as we can stay away.
Congratulations you two! Thank you for an amazing day!
