About a year ago Tiphanie and Ryan started talking to Michelle and I about coming with them for their destination wedding at Azul Beach in Cancun, Mexico. When it comes to destination weddings like this, it takes a lot of open communication to make sure we are all constantly on the same page with all the details. Tiphanie (as well as Michelle) is a terrific planner and took care of all the questions and potential problems that can occur when planning a wedding 2000 miles from where we all live. And as I suspected, the wedding day (and days leading up to the wedding day) went off without a hitch.
I met Tiphanie and Ryan in person for the first time the day before their wedding. We had scheduled a driver to take us to a nearby fishing village to do a pre-wedding shoot. The village was old and full of color and people bustling around getting their Monday work day wrapped up. Tiphanie and Ryan compliment each other. If one had a moment of nervousness (its hard to be photographed sometimes) the other quickly helped wash away any trepidation with a smirk, joke or smile. And really, being apart of a partnership requires that you help each other and work with each other when you are needed. Tiphanie and Ryan have this down. Their partnership is strong and full of giving.
Up high looking down on all the buildings below, Tiphanie and Ryan held their ceremony on a day that was full of white puffy clouds against deep blue skies and small waves rolling into the sandy shore below. As they exchanged rings and promises, the words from Like You by Sandol Stoddard Warburg still hung in the air bringing happy tears to some and smiles to all present. And the start of something special was formalized with a public declaration full of promise, trust and hope for a future filled with adventure, routine and love.
